wow! only the 3rd post of the year!!!

WOW!

i knew it had been a while since i posted on here, but only 3 times this year...is getting a little ridiculous! it is fun to look back at the entries (even if i have to look at last year's...big slacker!) i have to remind myself of that and post some more of my personal memories!
well, i am trying once again to get back at it and get some of the photos on paper and get some of those stamps and great new product lines into use! i entered a little challenge on the Columbus Scrappers website, no pressure-just challenges. each week they are posting the standards and going from there with a judging of sorts (points for meeting the criteria).

week 1 challenge:

criteria: use 2 photos; use 23 buttons; use a color scheme of red, yellow, and blue; use 2 types of ribbon; doodle on the page in 3 places; use the words "I'm not" in the title; and finally some thread
here's my LO:

week 2 challenge:

didn't even get to try my new Glimmer Mist. went to the store, bought the goodies, and ran out of time to complete this week's challenge! oh well, there's always next week!

week 3 challenge:
criteria: use a sketch provided; use a red, white, and blue color theme; use a star or heart; use 12 brads; use a flat sticker(s); a file folder tab; and stamping and sanding as the technique.here's my LO:

(used the jillibean Core'dinates Cardstock and man is that cool! you can sand, tear, whatever and it is pre-embossed so it makes a great design!) can you see the little star-like designs on the red strip? too cool!

Week 4

This week were were asked to cook up a recipe...ingredients were of course scrapbooking materials! A solid cardstock as the background, add 2 piece of patterned paper, buttons, flowers, ink, photos, journaling, and a dash of mojo! The secret ingredient had to a be an 8 letter title!

Here's mine!

creating into the new year!

so excited to have some time so early in the year to sit down in my space and create. i finished this cute card for a swap i am doing on the Columbus Scrappers website.

i also spent some time working on a LO from benny's sledding experience at my dad's on new year's day. i really liked the way the snowflakes turned out (a little diamond glaze and ultra fine glitter). i did enter the LO in the Backporch Memories DT contest for febraury too! heading to the scrap room today! ahhh...love being a SAHM!

oops! almost forgot. i got to spend a short amount of time with my best bud kellie and my aunt joyce who were both in from florida this christmas! so thankful for the good people in my life!

Make a Smilebox greeting

Haven't been posting lately even though it has been a constant annoyance on my "list". Today, I decided to actually follow the list and not pick and choose what I felt like getting done. Baby steps...LOL!

Life at the Eyster home has been nothing less than crazy the past couple of months. Holidays tend to do that to families with more kids than...heck any family! October and November went great. Ben's Uncle Sam costume was a big hit for Halloween. He won 1st place at the local contest in the preschool category. Kendal offically started driving on her own...WATCH OUT! She seems to be doing pretty good with following the guidelines so far, let's hope my straight A student (who received the superintendant's award as well!!) keeps her head on straight behind the wheel! She also had her golf banquet and received a Versity letter. Mom is ever so proud of her babies! Travis is still riding that dirt bike even though it is 30 degrees most days. I'll never understand the boys and their toys philosophy.

December is fairing pretty well. Got all the requistite Christmas stuff down (as shown above in the Christmas photo and cards). Ready to just enjoy seeing Santa come to Main Street. Bought myself a Cricut Expressions (little bug upgrade) so maybe after things settle down, I can get back to what I love...Scrapbooking! Already planning on starting the New Year with some resolutions and taking time to get some scrapping done is one of them! Hey Santa-can I have an extra hour or two in the day?

Summer Fun

my best buddy kellie came from florida to visit family and friends and i was so happy to see her! i miss the fact that we used to get to see each other and do things all the time when she lived 1/2 mile up the street! even though i only got to see craig and emily for the day, i am so glad they came to play with ben. here they are in the pool...craig, emily, ben, and the neighbor boy alex. kellie and i did manage to sneak away for a day of eating, laughing and scrapbooking though...great fun! thanks for being such a great friend kellie!

and on a down note, went to the garden to weed and check on things today...those darned deer ate EVERYTHING! the only things left are tomatoes, peppers, squash. and some eggplants. what a pain! should i re-plant or call it a day? that's my dilemma for the day.

I WON!!!

the Scrap Idol contest is over and I WON! i'm really excited. i went today and picked up my prize basket. very nice product and great scrapbooking t-shirts (along with a great basket)!! the challenge of this contest was great motivation for me to get some scrapping done. i really need to try and stay on task the next couple months with my gardening and scrapbooking. i always feel so much better at the end of the day knowing that i have accomplished a task. off to the nursey now to buy some vegetable plants!

Final Round

TOP 3!!! woohoo! i made it to the end. this challenge(s) should be fun! i have to create an altered item from Kaiser Craft (any project and with any papers & embellsihments) AND a LO using Fancy Pants paper and 2 photos! the altered item was very time consuming but i managed to get it done and i really like the end result. i made a cupcake book detailing benny's birthday party! monster party complete with monster paper from Daisy D! For the LO i really liked the flower embellishment i created from the fancy pants papers. here's hoping i am the winner!

Round 3

another round...YEAH! here is the layout that i completed for this round of Scarp Idol. the requirements are getting tougher and so is the competition. i had to use: a Prima Calendar Stamp, a Jenny Bowlin journaling spot, a white Sigma pen, a large circle, and one 5 x 7 photo double matted! WOW! the funniest part of it was after i decided on my paper, i needed a photo so i staged my son with a popsicle in the exact shade of my paper! what do you think? crazy...i know!

Round 2

the entry for round 2 of the Scrap Idol contest is due today and i managed to get my entry done just in time. amazing how time runs away from you when chasing kids, working, and cleaning the house...all the time!

the rules for this round were pretty simple. use 3 papers from the MME Laundry Line collection and 3 photos. i managed to use the 3 papers, 3 photos and a few other Laundry Line products (the flower stamp, the "wish" card, and the alphabet rub-ons). here's my entry!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

i heard from jen at scrapbook cafe today and i made it to the next round of the "scrap idol" contest at her store. so i have to work on the next challenge...a LO with 3 photos and 3 sheets of the MME Laundry Line collection. think, think, think! hopefully i can come up with something good and keep going!

i got to go a crop this past weekend and after a night of cropping i managed to get a couple of LOs done. i wish i would have been able to stay longer and get more done, but i at least got a few pictures cropped.
