Make a Smilebox greeting

Haven't been posting lately even though it has been a constant annoyance on my "list". Today, I decided to actually follow the list and not pick and choose what I felt like getting done. Baby steps...LOL!

Life at the Eyster home has been nothing less than crazy the past couple of months. Holidays tend to do that to families with more kids than...heck any family! October and November went great. Ben's Uncle Sam costume was a big hit for Halloween. He won 1st place at the local contest in the preschool category. Kendal offically started driving on her own...WATCH OUT! She seems to be doing pretty good with following the guidelines so far, let's hope my straight A student (who received the superintendant's award as well!!) keeps her head on straight behind the wheel! She also had her golf banquet and received a Versity letter. Mom is ever so proud of her babies! Travis is still riding that dirt bike even though it is 30 degrees most days. I'll never understand the boys and their toys philosophy.

December is fairing pretty well. Got all the requistite Christmas stuff down (as shown above in the Christmas photo and cards). Ready to just enjoy seeing Santa come to Main Street. Bought myself a Cricut Expressions (little bug upgrade) so maybe after things settle down, I can get back to what I love...Scrapbooking! Already planning on starting the New Year with some resolutions and taking time to get some scrapping done is one of them! Hey Santa-can I have an extra hour or two in the day?

Summer Fun

my best buddy kellie came from florida to visit family and friends and i was so happy to see her! i miss the fact that we used to get to see each other and do things all the time when she lived 1/2 mile up the street! even though i only got to see craig and emily for the day, i am so glad they came to play with ben. here they are in the pool...craig, emily, ben, and the neighbor boy alex. kellie and i did manage to sneak away for a day of eating, laughing and scrapbooking though...great fun! thanks for being such a great friend kellie!

and on a down note, went to the garden to weed and check on things today...those darned deer ate EVERYTHING! the only things left are tomatoes, peppers, squash. and some eggplants. what a pain! should i re-plant or call it a day? that's my dilemma for the day.

I WON!!!

the Scrap Idol contest is over and I WON! i'm really excited. i went today and picked up my prize basket. very nice product and great scrapbooking t-shirts (along with a great basket)!! the challenge of this contest was great motivation for me to get some scrapping done. i really need to try and stay on task the next couple months with my gardening and scrapbooking. i always feel so much better at the end of the day knowing that i have accomplished a task. off to the nursey now to buy some vegetable plants!

Final Round

TOP 3!!! woohoo! i made it to the end. this challenge(s) should be fun! i have to create an altered item from Kaiser Craft (any project and with any papers & embellsihments) AND a LO using Fancy Pants paper and 2 photos! the altered item was very time consuming but i managed to get it done and i really like the end result. i made a cupcake book detailing benny's birthday party! monster party complete with monster paper from Daisy D! For the LO i really liked the flower embellishment i created from the fancy pants papers. here's hoping i am the winner!

Round 3

another round...YEAH! here is the layout that i completed for this round of Scarp Idol. the requirements are getting tougher and so is the competition. i had to use: a Prima Calendar Stamp, a Jenny Bowlin journaling spot, a white Sigma pen, a large circle, and one 5 x 7 photo double matted! WOW! the funniest part of it was after i decided on my paper, i needed a photo so i staged my son with a popsicle in the exact shade of my paper! what do you think? crazy...i know!

Round 2

the entry for round 2 of the Scrap Idol contest is due today and i managed to get my entry done just in time. amazing how time runs away from you when chasing kids, working, and cleaning the house...all the time!

the rules for this round were pretty simple. use 3 papers from the MME Laundry Line collection and 3 photos. i managed to use the 3 papers, 3 photos and a few other Laundry Line products (the flower stamp, the "wish" card, and the alphabet rub-ons). here's my entry!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

i heard from jen at scrapbook cafe today and i made it to the next round of the "scrap idol" contest at her store. so i have to work on the next challenge...a LO with 3 photos and 3 sheets of the MME Laundry Line collection. think, think, think! hopefully i can come up with something good and keep going!

i got to go a crop this past weekend and after a night of cropping i managed to get a couple of LOs done. i wish i would have been able to stay longer and get more done, but i at least got a few pictures cropped.

never too late...

to scrap the first day of ben's arrival...LOL! he is only going to be 3 in a month! i am determined to get these albums in some sort of order and i needed to scrap benny's arrival to fill the open pages of his 1st album. i loved this new paper from pink paisley and it was great for the LO. the tab on the side is the hospital crib card tucked away nicely.

it's hitting me...my baby girl is growing up

i made airline reservations for my baby girl to take her first "spring break" without mommy today. she is just flying to florida to go golfing and enjoy the sun with aunt joyce, but it was was really hard for me to swallow. she is driving now with a fresh permit (god help us all!) and she is working part-time as a busser...what next? prom, graduation, college...make it stop! my baby girl is growing right before my eyes and i don't think i like it. i want my little girl back!

my sweethearts (most of the time) ;)

finshed! i worked on this LO with such enthusiasm since i was working with PINK! how often can you scrap for a boy with pink? not too often, but this was my chance! i used the sketch from http://www.backporchmemories.com/ (the april '09 dt) as my guide and entered it there as well. i really like this one, don't know why-but it makes me smile.

A little inspiration goes a long way

i cannot believe how many LOs i have completed and little cards or projects i have actually finished already this year. i am in desperate need for some product at this point. well, i cleaned out so much, i need some new stuff to replenish, lol! the resolution to clean up my scrap area and get moving on the photos that have been collecting dust is actually working! my best bud, kellie, is getting me some cool stuff this week from the store she works at in ft. myers, fl, so that should keep me hopping for a little bit. i wanted to keep a little tally somewhere on here to keep me going ( a little reminder that i can fit this into my day).
  • single page layouts completed: 10
  • double page layouts completed: 2
  • cards completed: 5
  • extra projects: 2 -love notes (embellished post-its)

this week's sketch from http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com was rather fun so i gave it a try!

i am a new follower to this site and they have really inspired me to make more cards. now, i need to actually let go of them and send them to people. anyone ever feel like it is just not going to be appreciated?

ok! i am officially hooked on challenges and contests. it gets me motivated to get all my "chores" done in the morning so during naptime, i can have fun!

i made these today for one of the february challenges (alisa's challenge) on http://backporchmemories.com/. how fun are these~

my first entry and beginning of a blog! i am really getting interested in being published in the scrapbook and card making world. this blog is going to be my creative outlet (aptly titled) and my little place to express my interest, post my projects, and secretly dream of the day when my stuff is good enough to be on a web page or magazine. i have been a scrapbooker and dabbler in the world of paper crafting for years, but only for my own escape from the daily grind of motherhood, marriage, and life in general. lately, i am becoming a little more focused on improving my pages, making a few more people happy with a handmade card, and feeling good about my "hobby" (and maybe gaining a little praise).

i worked this past weekend on a couple of contest i found through various websites and wanted to post them here for submission! i am determined to keep trying and maybe one will pay off!

this was a challenge from the http://www.pagemaps.com/blog.php i really enjoy page maps, the sketches are great and it truly does give me focus on my pages.

the challenge was to take this sketch and create a "FREE FOR ALL" page.

and here is my LO!

the next challenge was from http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/ they also had a sketch and create any card based on that sketch. here was the sketch and my take on it!

and here is my interpretation:

i am working on a entry for backporch memories and hopefully during naptime for ben today, i can get it done and post it as well. they have the best challenges each month!

fingers are crossed!!
